The eighth episode of The Curse Of Oak Island Season 9 is titled “Deeper Digs, Bigger Stakes.” In the next episode, the Laginas will use a 35-ton long reach excavator to prove Fred Nolan’s theory. They will dig as deeper as they can around the swamp edges to find if there really is a galleon buried under the artificial swamp.

Meanwhile, the crew will continue their diggings around Lot 4, as it suggested promising signs with the discovery of several metal alloys. But, the main focus will be to find the buried ship, which could turn out to be this season’s biggest score in The Curse Of Oak Island Season 9 Episode 8.

A Quick Recap!

In the seventh episode, the Laginas decided to dig around the swamp’s edges. A later treasure hunter, Fred Nolan’s theory suggested that the swamp was an artificial creation built to hide a galleon full of treasure. Moreover, Charles Barkhuse and Terry Matheson dug a new hole in the C-1 cluster in hopes of finding something resourceful.

Rick Lagina and Gary Drayton continued their search in Lot 4, hoping to find some kind of hatch. Instead, they discovered a huge iron spike and an old Adze. Rick took the Adze to blacksmithing expert Carmen Lagge. He took a closer look at Adze and revealed that it dated back between 1620-1740. The Laginas agreed that Lot 4 could turn out to be a bright prospect with further discoveries.

Meanwhile, in The Curse Of Oak Island Season 9 Episode 7, the crew transported a 35-ton long reach excavator near the swamp. During the excavation, they discovered an Oak tree Stump which surprised everyone. Oak trees don’t usually grow in wet conditions. Thus, its presence suggested that the swamp might be artificial after all. The crew also discovered a few more flat pieces of wood possibly carved by an Adze.

Further, the team discovered some metal pieces and a button with traces of gold in Lot 4. Chemistry Professor Dr. Christa Brosseau told the Laginas that the button has British-origin dated between 1726-1776. The metal piece was a copper alloy with traces of tin and could have originated from Spain or Portugal. The professor also revealed that the metal could have been used in bells and cannons in The Curse Of Oak Island Season 9 Episode 7.
