While there’s still time to stream The Witcher Season 2, the series showrunner revealed that The Witcher universe is all set to expand. She also teased a surprising element only for kids and families. Meanwhile, the series star Henry Cavil unveiled the first look of his character Geralt, teasing what will come next for his character. Based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel of the same name, the show follows a monster hunter, Geralt, destined to protect the Crown Princess Ciri.
The Witcher Season 2: Geralt’s First Look Revealed
Recently, the series lead Henry Cavil unveiled the exclusive poster of the second season. Although the poster didn’t offer anything about the second season, yet it shows how Geralt will look in the upcoming season. In his new metallic armor with a sword in his hand, Henry seems ready for the impending battle. Not just that, “Destined To Protect” is the tagline of the poster.
So far, we know that Geralt can go to any length to protect his close ones and to defeat the monsters. So perhaps the poster is trying to say that he might do anything, including calling his inner demons- as shown in the second trailer- to protect his adopted daughter, Ciri.
Sneak Peek To What Will Come Ahead
In the last season, Geralt took Ciri’s responsibility to raise her as a warrior. Thus, the second season will revolve around the Wolf school of witchers, Kaer Morhen. As per Redanian Intelligence- a new character will reveal. There’s a relation between Duny and Emhyr var Emreis. Precisely they are the same, and the connection will be shown when Emhyr face will reveal who was only seen in Duny’s context. So as per the context, Emhyr is Nilfgaard’s ruler, the nation having the primary antagonist of the show and the biological father of Ciri.
Vesemir Will Train Ciri
Vesemir was first introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s Blood of Elves. That now serves as the main source for the second run. Previously he was mentioned as Geralt’s father and mentor. He will now teach his surrogate daughter Ciri at Kaer Morhen. Well, Vesemir is tough on his students as he feels that his strict approach can help them tackle the worst situation. Now he is training Ciri to overcome her fear and rise as a strong warrior. It would be intriguing to see how things will fold between Vesemir and Ciri.
Extended Star Cast For The Witcher Season 2
While the series lead will once again reprise their role, the show has brought some new star cast to the second season. Henry Cavill as Geralt, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer will return. Along with them, Joey Batey as Jaskier will also join. Other new star cast include Kim Bodnia as Vesemir, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, and Yasen Atour as Coen. Paul Bullion as Lambert, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, and Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel will join as well. In addition, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen will join Mecia Simson as Francesca.
The Witcher Season 2: Is It The Last Season?
Of course not! While we were all waiting for season 2’s update, showrunner Lauren Hissrich revealed surprising news at Netflix’s TUDUM. Lauren unveiled that Netflix renewed The Witcher for the third season. It is currently in the development phase. In addition, Lauren has revealed that Witcher will return with two brand new projects along with the third season. They will still revolve around the series universe.
Witcher’s Anime Film
Lauren unveiled that the first project is another anime film. Well, ahead of the second season, the series dropped an anime film, “The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf,” which introduced Vesemir. In no time, the film became a blockbuster hit. Thus, another film comes as no surprise. But, it remains unclear whether the second film will serve as the sequel of Nightmare Of The Wolf or explore an entirely different story.
A Kid-Friendly Show
The other project comes as a big surprise for the series fans. During Netflix’s TUDUM event, Lauren revealed that she’s bringing a “fun-filled family and kid’s series” which will take place on the Continent. Well, the news came out as a part of a response to the backlash the show received. As we know the series is dark and full of political and controversial theories, yet it shows the nature of humanity. But this new project will offer kids to explore the universe with a fun-filled approach.
The Witcher: Blood Origin
While Netflix has been busy marketing season 2 and Nightmare Of The Wolf, the production of the third project began. The Witcher: Blood Origin will serve as the show’s prequel set hundreds of years before the original storyline. It will focus on the events that soon became the reason for the Conjunction of the Spheres. In other words, when monsters, elves, and humans collide.
The Witcher Season 2: Premiere Date
Finally, after a year-long wait, Netflix has dropped the official trailer, hinting at the series’ air date. Meanwhile, it highlights the events that occurred in the first season and their possible impact on the next run. The Witcher Season 2 will air on December 17, 2021. All the eight episodes will drop altogether at the same time following 47-67 minutes long runtime. So, don’t miss it.
