Vikings fans have been living in a drought world with bloody wars and raiding expeditions. However, by the mercy of Odin, the days of glory are coming back. Netflix is gearing up to release the spinoff series Vikings Valhalla. And fans couldn’t be more excited about it.
The show is a bloody tale of war, politics, and expeditions. The show that originally premiered on History TV wrapped up the story with a sixth installment in December 2020. But Vikings fans need not worry as another epic story is just around the corner. Netflix has shared the teaser for the sequel series titled Vikings Valhalla. So, let’s discuss what we know about it.
Vikings Valhalla Timeline Explained!
The upcoming series titled Vikings Valhalla is a spinoff to the original Vikings show. The series will reportedly take place around hundred years after the events of the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons. The original series mainly focussed on the beginning of the Viking Age in Europe, when Scandinavian raiders attacked Frace.
However, the upcoming series Viking Valhalla will explore the later years of the Vikings’ age. There is a gap of over a century between the events of Vikings and the spinoff series. Therefore, fans will not see the characters who were alive at the end of Vikings Season 6.
Although, the showrunner will establish some links among the characters of both series. This can be done either through ancestry or by some historical events. Viewers know that the original series took some liberty and diverted from history a little to focus more on the characters. Thus, fans can expect the same from Vikings Valhalla.
How Does Both The Series Connect?
The series Vikings Valhalla will revolve around some of the most famous Norse raiders in history. This includes show lead Leif Erikson and his sister Freydís Eriksdotter. In addition, the series will feature Harald Hardrada and Norman King William the Conqueror. Now talking about how Vikings Valhalla can connect to the original Vikings series, well, there are two ways in which the characters of the two series can connect to one another.
In the original series, Ragnar had a brother named Rollo. He left Scandinavia to rule Normandy. King Willam, the conqueror, is his great-great-great-grandson in the story. On the other hand, Valhalla is already encountering a situation as, according to Vikings, Ubbe was the first Viking to set his foot in North America. Meanwhile, most historians believe that Leif Erikson was the first Norseman to arrive on the American continent. Thus, Vikings Valhalla will have to address the inevitable link between both series.
