Early Life!
Kim Tae-Hyung was born on December 30, 1995, in Daegu, South Korea. He is the oldest in a family of three siblings in Geochang County. Ever since he was a child, it was always Kim’s dream to be a professional singer. His family supported his pursuit of music, and he started taking saxophone in early middle school. He became a trainee for Big Hit Entertainment after clearing the audition in Daegu.
In 2014, the singer completed graduation from Korean Arts High School and got enrolled in Global Cyber University. After that, V completed his major form Broadcasting and Entertainment in August 2020. Kim has also studied at Hanyang Cyber University while pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Advertising and Media.

2013 was the year when Kim Tae-Hyung made his debut with the BTS and became popular from his stage name V as a member of BTS. Their debut track was titled “No More Dream.” The track was released in the album called “2 Cool 4 Skool.” Later on, Kim got his first credit as a songwriter for the track “Hold Me Tight.”
V has worked on a lot of other songs in addition to his work with BTS. He released a solo song called “Singularity” in 2018. BTS’ third album, “Love Yourself: Tear,” was promoted with the release of the song. The song reached number one on the charts, and some critics included it on their annual best-of lists. He also collaborated with Swedish singer Zara Larsson on a song for BTS’ mobile game, BTS World.
V released “Scenery,” his first full solo tune outside of BTS, in 2019. The song set new streaming records on SoundCloud. In the same year, he recorded his debut solo English song, Winter Bear. V also lent his voice to the “Sweet Night” music for the JTBC drama Itaewon Class in 2020. The song was written, produced, and sung entirely in English by him. The song debuted at number two on Billboard’s U.S. Digital Song Sales Chart, becoming the highest debut for a Korean solo artist in the United States.
V has dabbled in acting in addition to his musical endeavors. V made his acting debut in 2016 on KBS2’s historical drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth as a supporting actor. He is the one who came up with the now-famous BTS catchphrase “I purple you.” UNICEF has utilized it in its anti-bullying efforts as well. V is among the youngest people to win the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit’s fifth-class medal. He was honored alongside other members of BTS for their contributions to the dissemination of culture.
