Created by Andreas Heckmann, Arne Nolting, and Jan Martin Scharf, Barbarians is Netflix’s German original that debuted in 2020. The show is set against the backdrop of the legendary Battle of Teutoburg Forest, which shaped the course of history.
Will There Be Barbarians Season 2?
Netflix released the entire first season of Barbarians on October 23, 2020. And a few weeks after the first season’s release, Netflix renewed the series for Barbarians Season 2. Meanwhile, in September 2021, the second season of the series finally entered its production stage, and it is currently in its later stages. Moreover, as far as the release date of the second season is concerned, there are no confirmations about it. However, many sources are claiming that Barbarians Season 2 can hit our screen around late 2022.
What To Expect From Barbarians Season 2?
As Netflix has shared any information about the second season of Barbarians, it is hard to determine what exactly will the second season be about. Season 2 will, however, need to explore a lot of new territories. Arminius and Thusnelda fought the three Roman Legions by uniting the Germanic tribes under one banner. The Roman Empire suffered a terrible loss as a result of the successful ambush.
Arminius and Thusnelda will most likely be crowned King and Queen of the tribes due to their triumph. On the other hand, the darkness is not far away. Hadgan and Thusnelda’s father is planning a major onslaught. The two plan to strike when Arminius is least expecting it in order to seize power for themselves. Besides the threat to their family, Arminius and Thusnelda face a much greater danger.
Season 2 will also focus on Thusnelda’s connection with Arminius and Folkwin. We do know that she is pregnant with Arminius’ baby by the end of the first season. The show also stars Bernhard Schütz as Segestes, Gaetano Aronica as VarusGaetano Aronica as Varus, Gaetano Aronica as Varus, and Nicki von Tempelhoff playing Segimer. Meanwhile, Ronald Zehrfeld stars as Berulf, Eva Verena Müller plays Irmina, Jeremy Miliker enacts Ansgar, and Sergej Onopko appears as Hadgan.
In addition, the cast of the series also includes Florian Schmidtke as Talio and Sophie Rois appearing as Seeress Runa.
