Created by Miikko Oikkonen, Bordertown is a Finnish crime series focused on detective inspector Kari Sorjonen. He’s the most respected officer at the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation). He also exhibits traits similar to savantism. But after his wife survived brain cancer, he took a new job, leading the Serious Crime Unit, the SECRI. Kari then moved to a town sharing a border with Russia. But his efforts to be a devoted husband and father were unsuccessful after an infamous criminal arrived.

Bordertown Season 4: Is It Happening?

The third season of Bordertown aired back in December 2019, and since then, fans have been patiently waiting to learn any news regarding Bordertown Season 4. Plenty of rumors suggest the crime drama will return with the fourth season soon. However, neither Yle nor Netflix has confirmed this yet. Well, the series did gain positive reception. It earned 7.6/10 positive responses on IMDb and 89% by Google users. Apart from this, Bordertown won the Best Drama Series award in the 2017 Golden Venla Awards. It also earned the Best Actor and Actress award the same year.

In addition, the show also ended on a cliffhanger. There were even plenty of loose holes left to be explored. For instance, the third season didn’t explain how Sorjonen deals with the aftermath of the murder. But it seemed it was left open for a reason. Despite this, Yle hasn’t yet renewed the show for the fourth run. In fact, the third season has been marked as the final season of the show. So, will Netflix and Yle change their decision? If the show returns for the fourth run, we can expect Vile Virtanen to return as Detective Inspector Kari Sorjonen. Matleena Kuusniemi will also return as Paulina Sorjonen, Lenita Susi as Katia Jaakkola, and Anu Sinisalo as Detective Constable Lena Jaakkola. Besides Kristiina Halttu as detective Superintendent, Taina Perttula will also return with Olivia Ainali as Janina Sorjonen and Ilkka Villi as detective constable Niko Uusitalo.

Bordertown Season 4: Release Date

As mentioned above, the third season was the show’s final season. So, there’s a slim chance that the creator will return with another season.
