Netflix Did Give A Hint At The Series Future
Although JTBC and Netflix haven’t officially canceled the show, the streaming giant has teased that there won’t be another season. That’s because the series has been billed as “limited.” That means there isn’t a chance for the show to return with another season. However, some shows have returned with another season despite being billed as the “limited” one.
So we hope the same for Nevertheless. But the chances are slim in this K-drama’s case. That’s because of Song Kang ‘s upcoming military enlistment. The actor has to serve two years in the military as per South Korean rules and regulations.
This will hinder his chances of returning to Nevertheless KDrama Season 2 in the future. If JTBC and Netflix plan to return with another season, they must return without Song Kang. But again, the series won’t be Nevertheless without Song Kang and his butterfly tattoo. So, if, in the slightest case, the streaming platform does want to return, then they have to wait until the actor returns after fulfilling his duty.
Nevertheless Ending Explained
Nevertheless finale starts with Jae Eon and Na Bi ending their relationship after the former makes unpleasant remarks out of jealousy. Although the two made their distance, Na Bi’s life spiraled after her handmade sculpture was ruined a few days before the exhibit.

With Jae Eon’s help, Na Bi recreated a beautiful sculpture. But as he promised, he left her without a trace. This made things challenging for Na Bi, who struggled to stay without him.
On the day of the exhibit, everyone praised Na Bi for her incredible work. However, she wasn’t excited for the same. In fact, she appeared to be searching for someone. Later, Do Hyeok arrived to congratulate her. Despite all his efforts, Na Bi asked to stay friends. Na Bi later realized that she had always liked Jae Eon. After the success of the exhibition, she returned to the empty gallery.
There, she spotted Jae Eon, who was admiring their sculpture. Na Bi was upset and expressed her disappointment in being separated. To her surprise, Jae Eon asked for another chance, to which she said, ‘Yes.’ Still, he questioned whether he would regret it in the future. Na Bi replied that she would definitely regret it, but despite that, they both entered the relationship. The series ended with their passionate kiss as they walked hand in hand out of the exhibit.

Although the show has been billed as “limited” and ended on a positive note, there’s room for Nevertheless KDrama Season 2. As we have mentioned, the K-drama is an adaptation of the popular webtoon. It started serializing in 2018 on Naver Webtoon and ended in the same year. Although the webtoon ended, more chapters are left to explore in Nevertheless Season 2.
The TV adaptation covers only half of the webtoon, where Jae Eon and Na Bi enter a relationship. However, the webtoon’s ending hints at a different direction. The webtoon depicts Na Bi’s thoughts about Jae Eon. Although she has feelings for him, she receives warning signs that suggest she should avoid him. The story wraps up with Na Bi encountering Jae Eon in a bar with a girl, explaining the meaning behind his butterfly tattoo.
Will There Be A Season 2 Of Nevertheless?
As mentioned above, the show can explore the second half of Na Bi and Jae Eon’s relationship. There are plenty of storylines remaining to explore. Although the pair has entered a relationship, Nevertheless KDrama Season 2 can focus on their fair share of struggles and how Jae Eon never changes in his life. He keeps flirting with other girls, creating problems for Na Bi, who later learns her big mistake of selecting Jae Eon over Do Hyeok. The show can also explore the characters’ growth and how they end up.
So, if JTBC and Netflix decide to return with Nevertheless KDrama Season 2, they can explore this story arc where Na Bi struggles to stay with Jae Eon. It will perfectly explain all the warning signs she received at the beginning of the series. Further, there’s room for another season. As we have mentioned, the story has yet to be explored.
