Business Proposal Season 2: Why Netflix Canceled The K-Drama?

Despite being released two years ago, Business Proposal is still the most hotly anticipated K-drama ever. Many series have come and gone, but Business Proposal has left a lasting mark on the audience’s mind, sparking talk on Business Proposal Season 2. But will it ever happen? While the possibility surrounding its return is scarce, the series cast has hinted at the next season’s production. Does it mean we can get another season of Business Proposal the following year?

Hold your horses! Not only has the cast teased their potential return, but SBS has also made an official announcement regarding Business Proposal Season 2. That means there’s hope for the next season. The K-drama Business Proposal is based on the webtoon titled The Office Blind Date. It focuses on Shin Ha Ri’s upside-down relationship with CEO Kang Tae Moo. In order to save her friend Jin Young Seo from marrying the CEO of Go Food, she agrees to replace her on a blind date.

However, this leads to confusion, creating problems between the main couple. While Kang Tae Moo starts developing feelings for Shin Ha Ri, her friend finds herself in a tug of war. After dealing with her father’s bossy nature, Young Seo decides to part ways and live a peaceful life. This later leads her to Cha Sung-Hoon, sparking a new romance between the two. So, will the storyline be continued in Business Proposal Season 2? Let’s find out!

Business Proposal Season 2: Is It Renewed Yet?

The rom-com debuted back in February 28 and ran until April 5, 2022. While the show was highly appreciated, Netflix and SBS have remained mum about the series’ future. It’s been almost two years, and fans are still waiting with a bathed breath. However, it doesn’t seem like the show will return with Business Proposal Season 2. That’s because Netflix has changed the series status from “season one” to “limited.”

Netflix Global Top Ten TV Non-English List

This suggests that despite the streaming giant having plans for the future development of the show, it ultimately ended the series with just one season. But why, though? The series performed exceptionally well on the platform. It was topped in Netflix’s Global Top Ten Non-English TV list, amassing 102,840,000 million watch hours.

In addition, the series remained in the top ten for 13 weeks in 58 countries, which is pretty huge for any K-drama. Plus, the series finale earned 11.4% ratings, further suggesting that the show performed well and needed to be returned with Business Proposal Season 2. However, Netflix has no plans for future developments, leaving fans distressed.

SBS Canceled Business Proposal Season 2

While Netflix has already hinted that there are no plans for Business Proposal Season 2, SBS has also shared its decision. Amid the cancelation rumors, the broadcasting network behind the show shared jolting news. SBS commented on the fan page of Business Proposal on Instagram, revealing there won’t be any second season of the series. The network states that they don’t have any plans for Season 2. In fact, they didn’t want to continue with another season.

This eventually left fans dismayed, as the series was the most popular show of the year. As soon as the SBS rep commented, many fans took to the comment section to learn the reason behind this decision. However, the network hasn’t commented on this. In fact, the comment has now been deleted. This has further sparked concern among fans regarding Business Proposal Season 2.

Will Business Proposal Have A Season 2?

Spoilers Alert

Business Proposal ended on a positive note, with Tae Moo learning about Ha Ri’s secret. Throughout the season, she tries to keep her true identity a secret. However, in the end, Tae Moo discovers that the person he loves isn’t Yeong Seo but Ha Ri. But it didn’t stop him from loving her.

As the episode unfolded, their relationship became public, making things complicated for the couple. Ha Ri was still afraid of being in a relationship with Tae Moo, and Chairman Kang worsened the situation. He asked Ha Ri to quit her job and leave Tae Moo. But she denied it. So, to make his plan work, Chairman Kang faked his illness to pressurize Tae Moo.

But it didn’t stop the latter from loving Ha Ri. As for Ha Ri, she looked after Chairman Kang and softened his stance. Eventually, the couple’s parents approved of their relationship, which somewhat upset the old man. So, to make his plan work, he forced Tae Moo to fly to the US for treatment.

Ha Ri refused to follow him but agreed to stay in the long-distance relationship. A year later, Tae Moo returned to South Korea and informed Ha Ri that the old man had approved of their relationship. After facing their fair share of trouble, the story concludes with Tae Moo proposing to Ha Ri, who cutely accepts his romantic proposal.

Yeong Seo Found The Love Of Her Life

Yeong Seo’s father had set her up on a blind date with Tae Moo because he wished to merge their companies. However, she had other plans. So, she asked Ha Ri to help her out. While things didn’t go according to her plan, Yeong Seo left her father’s home and started living beside Sung Hoon, Tae Moo’s assistant’s apartment.

While she falls in love with Sung Hoon, he resists falling in love as he doesn’t want to make things dramatic between him and Tae Moo. But things changed when Yeong Seo confessed her feelings for Yeong Seo. This eventually made things somewhat normal between the duo, and the two eventually started dating.

However, her father disapproved of this relationship. So, to make her stand, Yeong Seo left her father’s company and began her new life with Sung Hoon. At the end of the finale, Sung Hoon proposed to her, and they eventually engaged and stepped on their new journey.

Since the series has already concluded every character’s storyline, there’s no point in returning with Business Proposal Season 2. That would only ruin the series’ reputation and narrative, making things tedious. However, the series cast has teased that they might return with another season. So, will the show return despite being canceled?

Business Proposal Season 2 Undergoes Production

Back in October 2022, the Business Proposal star cast teased their possible return. Kim Se Jeong (who played Shin Ha Ri) and Ahn Hyo Seop (who played Kang Tae Moo) shared a snap suggesting that Business Proposal Season 2 had undergone production. The two seemed to enjoy their reunion, sparking the filming rumors. This further complicated things, as Netflix and SBS had already announced their decision not to return with another season.

While much speculation surfaced online, an insider revealed that Se Jeong and Hyo Seop met to shoot an ad. Thus, the production rumors weren’t true. This further hinders the chance of Business Proposal Season 2. As we have mentioned, the show has already faced a grim fate; there won’t be any season in the future. This is all for now.
