Starring Kwak Sun-Young and Lee Min-Ki, the crime K-drama Crash is now all set to entertain you once again. That’s right! The creator and director recently released the much-anticipated update regarding Crash Season 2. Since the show aired on ENA, it has dropped several dynamic episodes exploring the various traffic crime cases, which kept the fans on their toes. With such a premise, the audience is now rooting for more seasons. But will they get another season of Crash? Let’s find out!
The series, written by Oh Soo Jin, follows a traffic investigation department TCI. It delves deeper into the investigation, tracking the criminals on bumpy roads while following the traffic rules and regulations. As the team explores several murder mysteries and dramatic cases, they find themselves at a crossroads when the deputy commissioner announces his decision. AStory produced the series, which ran for 12 episodes, exploring the intensity of crime and more.
Crash Season 2 Is Finally Back!
The first season of Crash debuted in May 2024 and quickly gained a place in its fans’ hearts. Since the series started broadcasting on ENA and streaming platforms, it has shown a steady increase in ratings. The pilot episode earned 2.232% of ratings, which later increased in the fourth episode. From the fourth episode, the ratings gradually increased, with the finale gaining 6.619%.
With such an amazing performance, it’s a no-brainer why the production committee decided to return with Crash Season 2. The renewal announcement came in mid-August when the series writer Oh Soo-Jin stated that Season 2 would focus on the chemistry between the TCI team members. Soo Jin added that the second season of Crash would be a blast as it will explore the colorful stories of Namgang Police Station’s staff.
The characters’ backstory will play a huge role in Crash Season 2. Fans will be delighted with a more fantastic storyline. That’s because the second season “Will cover more diverse traffic crime cases.” Thus, it seems like the show will focus entirely on introducing a new and developed storyline, engaging fans to their core.
Besides this, we can also expect some romantic angles in the next season. A lot happened in the previous season, so there’s a possibility that Crash Season 2 will bring back the angles again, delving deeper into the magnetic storyline and bond between TCI team members.
Director Expressed Gratitude To The Audience
As soon as the renewal announcement came, the series director, Park Joon-Woo, expressed his gratitude to his fans. He said, “Thanks to the support of our viewers.” He also said they will work hard to make Crash a long-running series. Since it’s one of its kind, it delves deeper into the traffic control police cases, which are not a part of any crime show yet.
So, it will be a pleasure to delve into such an angle. Plus, Park Joon-Woo shared that they would work on creating more diverse episodes with Korean-style season investigation. In addition, according to the stats, the show made history this year. The first season of Crash had the second-highest viewership rating in ENA’s history.
That’s right! The K-drama has been highly popular as it has explored the dark side of traffic violation-related cases. Also, the show has left a door open for Crash Season 2, which can reveal the fate of the TCI team, as massive changes were made in the season’s finale. So, be ready to witness some dramatic changes.
Crash Season 2: Production Started
While fans are delighted with the renewal news, the production company behind the series, ASTORY, also confirmed another news. On August 21, the production company confirmed the production of Crash Season 2. That means the show has already undergone production. K-dramas typically take six to seven months to wrap up production, so it’s likely that the series will soon announce more production updates.
As for ASTORY, it doesn’t share many details of Crash Season 2. However, it’s safe to guess that the show entered the writing phase. The scriptwriting work will take almost a couple of months to finish up the writing work. However, the busy schedule of the cast might play a major role in delaying production.
Lee Min Ki is currently busy working on the new movie Three Days, and Kwak Sun Young is currently shooting her movie Lobby. This might delay the production of Season 2 of Crash. But we will update you shortly about the production details.
Crash Season 2 Cast Details
Although the production committee hasn’t shared who will return for Crash Season 2, we expect the entire TCI team to join the season. These include Lee Min Ki as Cha Yeon Ho, Kwak Sun Young as Min So Hee, and Heo Sung Tae as Jeong Chae Man. In addition, Lee Ho Chul will return as Woo Dong Gi, and Moonhee will join as Eo Hyeon Gyeong. The audience can also expect to see some supporting characters to return.
These include Heo Jung Do as Pyo Myung Hak, Kang Ki Doong as Pyo Jung Wook, and Oh Eui Shik as Lee Tae Joo. Bek Hyun Jin can also return as Gu Kyung Soo. However, it remains unclear whether the YSC Group CEO will return. We can expect Lee Yoo Jun to play Yang Seok Chan if he does. The second season will also feature some fresh faces and introduce new criminal cases.
Crash Season 2: What To Expect Next?
The scriptwriter has yet to reveal what to expect from Crash Season 2. However, we can expect the entire TCI team to return to solve new mysteries and traffic violations. In the final episode of the first season, deputy police commissioner Pyo Myung Hak dissolved TCI. The team leader and other members were set to different units. TCI member Yeon Ho was later sent to Hwapyeong Island, where he started working on a case of a missing teenage girl.
As the episode unfolded, he contacted his former members to help him out with this case. As things progressed, it was revealed that the village leader and his other companions were involved in the case of this missing girl. Things took a dramatic turn when the village leader and his helper concocted a plan to divert the investigation.
However, the TCI team members decided to trick the culprits and revealed that a technician would soon arrive and track the missing girl Seunga’s whereabouts using her wireless earbuds. This left the village leader and his minion in dismay, and they rushed to dig the body in the mountain graveyard. As they dug the body, the investigation team caught them red-handed and revealed they just tricked the village leader.
It was later revealed that the group kidnapped Seunga after they killed her friend in a hit-and-drive case. They also planned to bury Seunga, beside her friend’s body, alive. But it didn’t happen. As the team resolved the case, the group received promotions and awards, and the National Office of Investigation restored TCI.
Crash Season 2 Release Date
As of now, it doesn’t seem like the show will return this year. That’s because the actors are currently working on their upcoming projects. So, this might delay the production of Crash Season 2. Considering that filming might take time to wrap up, we believe the second season of Crash will be released sometime in 2025. However, there’s a possibility that it can return sooner rather than later. We will update you, so don’t worry. This is all for now. Stay with TechRadar247 for more such updates.
