Prime Video’s latest historical period drama, My Lady Jane, has created an outrage among its fans after the series met a dark fate. However, most of the series focused on Lady Jane Grey, aka the Nine Days Queen. She was one of England’s monarchs who ruled the world for the shortest period. Despite that, the first season gracefully covered her struggles and love life. Based on the 2016 YA historical fiction novels, it showcases Lady Jane’s life.
Is My Lady Jane Season 2 Renewed?
Unfortunately, Prime Video canceled My Lady Jane after one season. Sadly, but true! The show debuted on June 27, 2024, and created an uproar in the entertainment industry. Despite that, the streaming giant canceled the show just seven weeks after its release. It left many with sore eyes, as nobody expected it to happen.
Since the series received a positive reception from the critics as well as the audience, fans have been clamoring for My Lady Jane Season 2. But unfortunately, it won’t happen. Fans Signed A Petition To Bring Back My Lady Jane
While Prime Video canceled My Lady Jane Season 2, fans aren’t done with the series. Shortly after its cancelation, many turned to Change.org and signed a petition to demand the return of the historic series. At the time of writing, the petition has reached 92,488 signatures. The statement reads, “We are calling upon Amazon Prime to the voices of fans” worldwide and confirm the renewal of My Lady Jane Season 2.
In addition to the petition, many have created a Save My Lady Jane website and a GoFundMe page. The petition also included video testimonials from the show’s enthusiasts. One fan asked the streaming platform to reconsider its decision. The person said, “Who says it won’t gain more traction during Season 2.”
The second person called My Lady Jane “a breath of fresh air.” Many petitioners also wanted to see where Jane and Guilford’s (her husband) story goes. Since many are excited about My Lady Jane Season 2, chances are highly likely that Prime Video will reconsider its decision.
This petition came just a month after Prime Video announced its decision. The streaming platform hasn’t commented on it, but there’s a hope that the streaming giant will soon announce it. Many have also called for the series to be adapted by another streaming platform to give the cast and crew members justice. My Lady Jane Season 2 Cast: Who Will Return?
As mentioned above, the show has already been canceled. However, if Prime Video or another platform revives the series for another run, there’s a chance that all the main cast members will return. These include Emily Bader as Lady Jane Grey, Edward Bluemel as Lord Guildford Dudley, and Anna Chancellor as Lady Frances Grey. Rob Brydon as Lord Dudley will also return with Jordan Peters as Kind Edward VI and Kate O’Flynn as Princess Mary.
Abbie Hern as Princess Bess will return with Henry Ashton as Lord Stan Dudley. The other returning members include Oliver Chris as the Author, Jim Broadbent as the Duke of Leicester, and Dominic Cooper as Lord Seymour. What Will Happen In My Lady Jane Season 2?
The series was a rollercoaster ride for Jane and others. Throughout its first season, it focused on the war-centric Verity and Ethians. In the first season finale, Jane was taken to the Tower of London. However, Fitz and Edward begged the Ethians to help them rescue Jane and fight against Mary. While the tension rose, Ethians saved Jane from her executioner and guards and protected her from being executed.
With Susannah’s help, Jane rushed to save Guildford. While she managed to reach that place, she could not undo the knots. However, Guilford finally changed his form and saved his and Jane’s life. Lord Dudley and Stan helped them both to escape the place.
In an epilogue, it was revealed that Bess was Ethian. Katherine and Frances were Mary’s hostages. Frances and Stan later resumed their relationship. As for Katherine, she married Lord Seymour’s son William. While the series ended on a conclusive note, there’s hope for My Lady Jane Season 2. That’s because Jane and Guildford decided to take back the throne in the final moments.
So, if the show returns, we can see Jane and Guildford returning with full force. This time, they won’t be alone as Ethians will be ready to help them, creating more tension between humans and Ethians. Fans can also expect to see Mary’s new move and Bess’ intentions.
