The Diplomat Season 2 Trailer Is Out

Netflix recently dropped the first teaser trailer for The Diplomat Season 2. The trailer features Kate Wyler, Keri Russell’s U.S. ambassador to London. It begins with Kate and Hal entering a fancy event, suggesting Hal’s fate. In the first season’s finale, Hal, Kate’s husband, was hit by a massive accident as his car was bombed. However, the teaser trailer suggests he somehow dodged the near-death experience and is doing fine now.

The wordless trailer also suggests that the attack came from the highest levels of the British government. It teases that things aren’t going well and that Kate needs to watch her back. At the same time, the first season focused on Kate’s struggle to keep the marriage afloat, and the teaser hints at another direction. Kate, who was looking to divorce Hal, is now considering giving her marriage another shot. This will further bring some romantic angle into the picture.

In addition, the trailer for the next season also shows a glimpse of Vice President Penn (Janney). The way Penn stares down Kate suggests that things aren’t well between them. The two may be standing on opposite sides, hinting at the political difference between the two. Will it create more challenges between them?

The Diplomat Season 2: What Will Happen Next?

In the first season finale, Austin Dennison and Kate deduced that Nicol Trowbridge hired the Russian Lenkov Group to attack HMS Courageous. Trowbridge had also planned to kill his own men. Then, Grove’s car was massively bombed, with Stuart and Hal within range. Since the finale left the three of them’s fate up in the air, it remains unclear whether they will return.

However, the recently released logline suggests that Kate Wyler’s world is shattered after the massive explosion. Though she was expected to divorce her husband, the situation has turned her life upside-down. While she struggles to rebuild her marriage, she hears her worst fear. The attack that changed her life didn’t come from the rival nation. Instead, it came from the inside of the British government.

Some higher levels are involved in this matter. As she works on finding the truth, she makes a newfound relationship with her ex-husband, Hal Wyler. It shows Hal is alive and ready to dig deeper into this mystery. As for Kate, she deals with her marital issues and threats from Vice President Grace Penn.
