Prime Video’s psychological horror series Them scared the world with its dark and gritty nature, and there’s no denying that. The series is one of a kind. However, after a successful second season, many wonder whether there will be Them Season 3. Will there be? Many questions run through people’s minds. But don’t stress! That’s because we have pleasant news.
While the series has wrapped up its second season this year, the showrunner has shared their plans for future developments. So, without further ado, let’s head to see what he’s planning for the next run.
The politically driven anthology follows the life of a Black family. Both seasons focus on Black people and the challenges they face in systemic racism. In the first season, a Black family moves into an all-white neighborhood, which creates challenges for them. It also focuses on the supernatural elements and how everything links to that family. Meanwhile, the second season focuses on the serial killer and his connection to the 1990s.
Is Them Season 3 Renewed?
The psychological horror series Them debuted back in April 2021, with season 2 airing earlier this April. With a dramatic and top-rated season, fans wonder whether the show will return with a third season. There’s no denying that psychological horror has a separate fanbase, and many want to see more horrifying stories. But will Prime Video return with Them Season 3?
Unfortunately, the streaming platform hasn’t yet renewed the series for another season. Although it’s been five months, Prime Video hasn’t yet shared the series’ viewership data. Despite the first season airing in 2021, the second season took almost three years to return to our screens. Well, viewership plays a massive role in series renewal.
Shockingly, the first season only received a 58% positive reception on Rotten Tomatoes, which might have also affected the renewal decision. However, things changed in season 2. Because of its anthology nature Them Season 2 performed incredibly well on the platform, earning 79% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. This suggests that the chances of Them Season 3 are quite high since viewership will play a massive role in renewing the series.
But one thing to note here is that the second season was never renewed. In fact, Prime Video ordered two seasons back in 2021. Hence, viewership has never remained a part of the renewal process. Thus, it remains unclear whether the streaming platform will renew the series based on its performance or behind-the-scenes matter will play a role.

Chances Of Them Season 3
While Prime Video hasn’t yet renewed the series for the third season, the showrunner, Little Marvin, has plans for another season. During an interview with ComicBook, Marvin said he has “a thousand percent” plans for Them Season 3. He is even hoping for the executive’s call to move forward with the plan. In fact, Marvin reiterated his plans in an interview with Decider. The showrunner said he wants to continue.
He said he “would love to keep going” with future installments, but everything is in Prime Video and the production team’s hands. Meanwhile, series star Deborah Ayorinde, who appeared in the first two seasons, told Decider that she would love to continue with the show and would “absolutely” return for another season. Deborah added, “I don’t know what [showrunner Little Marvin] is going to do, but I’m here for whatever he comes up with.”
She also praised Marvin’s work and said that she will return for Them Season 3 without any doubt, as she has utter faith in him and his creative mindset. Meanwhile, Marvin shared that the show will follow the anthology pattern. It will remain a standalone season, so if the audience doesn’t like the previous seasons, it won’t affect the next season’s performance.
What Could Happen In Season 3 Of Them?
Nothing is certain regarding the series story. The show follows an anthology format, which means every season has a different storyline, characters, and period. Despite the changes in the elements, the themes have remained the same in the two seasons, and both first two seasons followed racial tension and systemic racism, which are likely to play major roles in Them Season 3.
However, the narrative of season 3 remains to be seen: whether it will follow a time jump, focus on the present-day timeline, or explore some historical moment of high tension. One thing that has remained common in both seasons is Shahadi Wright Joseph’s character Ruby Lee Emory’s connection with the second season’s characters.
Season 2 revealed that Ruby Lee Emory was the biological mother of Dawn Reeve and Edmund Gaines. The series then explored the evil spirit that haunted Henry Emory in the first season. Since both the seasons had some connection, some elements of these two seasons will likely be played off in season 3. Season 3 may focus on the new generation’s connections with the characters in the first two seasons. It may also explore the elements of horror and focus on real-world issues.

Them Season 3 Cast Details
Since Them is an anthology, it follows a brand new story every season. That means the show brings new cast members in every season. So, if the series is picked for the third season, it will follow the same trend, bringing an ensemble cast. However, we expect Deborah Ayorinde to return for Them Season 3. That’s because she has remained an integral part of the story for the first two seasons. The show can follow the American Horror Story pattern, reusing some of the cast members, or it might show their connection with the series in the following seasons.
Them Season 3 Release Date
As of now, Prime Video has yet to announce Season 3 of Them. Hence, it remains unclear when the series will return. However, the second season returned after three years. So, if the show follows the same pattern, then there’s a chance that the third season will take longer to return. Considering this, the Them Season 3 release date might fall in 2027. This is all for now. Stay with TechRadar247 for more such updates.
