In 2020, she told the Radio Times that she might be open to telling the stories of Lyra as a baby. She said La Belle Sauvage focused on Asriel and Coulter’s backstory and the origin of Lyra. Meanwhile, The Secret Commonwealth focuses on the other aspects of the fantasy landscape.
Tranter revealed that she didn’t think there was the best book like The Secret Commonwealth, which focuses on the study of depression. Tranter added that she’s hopeful of adapting the trilogy and is waiting for Philip to finish his work. The executive producer added that she had high hopes for Philip and his works.
