Now that The Chosen Season 5 is in the pipeline, viewers can’t wait to see how things turn against Jesus Christ. And guess what? On November 25, the series released its first teaser trailer.
It provides a glimpse of what to expect in the next season, The Chosen: The Last Supper. The trailer suggests that Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem will only bring trouble down the road. Following the rise of Lazarus, the High Priest and the Sanhedrin scheme for Jesus’ execution. They conspire to hand him to the Romans. While his disciples anticipate his crowning, Jesus’ actions make things challenging. Instead of confronting Rome, “he turns the tables on the Jewish religion festival.”
With his great power and influence, Jesus eventually threatened the country’s religious leaders, leaving the political leaders to take action. To protect the country’s religious leaders, the political leaders decided to go to any length to stop Jesus. So, they ensured that this supper would be his last. This eventually led to a conspiracy and betrayal, and Jesus was later handed over to Rome.
Is The Chosen Season 5 The Last Season?
Of course not! The series showrunner Dallas Jenkins shared that they have already written the scripts of The Chosen Seasons 6 and 7. He said both seasons will arrive in the coming years. Season 6 will focus on Jesus’ Crucifixion. It will undoubtedly be the most painful and emotional season. Meanwhile, Season 7 will delve into Jesus’ Resurrection. Both these seasons will have a total of eight episodes, including a global theatrical release.
In addition, Jenkins told Variety his plans to expand “The Chosen” universe. He launched 5&2 Studios this year to bring several new projects. These include the animated “The Chosen Adventures.” It will focus on the youthful side of the Jesus story, featuring voice actors like Yvonne Orji and Paul Walter Hauser. This isn’t over yet. The showrunner has revealed that he has plans for another The Chosen project, “The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls.” It will be a six-episode adventure show which will start shooting this fall.
The Chosen Season 5 Release Date
The wait is over now! The Chosen has finally announced the fifth season’s release date, which will return sooner than expected. Just like its first four seasons, Season 5 will also see a theatrical release. Season 5 of The Chosen, titled “The Chosen: Last Supper,” will first have its theatrical release ahead of its streaming list. It will air in the US and Canada on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
