Taboo Season 2: Renewed For The Second Season

In early 2017, the BBC officially renewed Tom Hardy’s period-drama series for Taboo Season 2. However, the series filming is pushing ahead because of the father and son’s busy schedule. In 2018, Steven Knight confirmed that he’s looking to work on the script. But he wasn’t able to do so because of his tight schedule. Lately, he confirmed that he’s hoping to start filming late in 2019 or early 2020. But, then because of Tom’s busy schedule, the filming postponed again. Because of the ongoing pandemic, it’s hard to expect them to land on BBC until late 2021.

The Series Creators Delighted With The News

The series co-creator Steven Knight highlighted that it was a win-win situation for the show. Since the network had aired the series on Saturday night, which allowed more viewers to binge into the series. He said: “Their decision to put something like Taboo. Which is pretty on edge, on a Saturday night on BBC One was mad. But it was inspired too because it worked. It got people talking, and it created that slot. It was a trailblazer for that Saturday night drama.”

Whereas the lead star Tom Hardy ws pleased with the BBC announcement and said he’s delighted to continue their relationship. He said: “We are grateful and excited to continue our relationship with the BBC and FX in contributing towards British drama.”

Charlotte Moore BBC director of the content stated that it was hard to put a series on BBC named Taboo (she laughed). But, they were amazed by the affection that the series got from the audience. She described the previous season as the “phenomenal success” after checking those reviews and viewership. The series earned 8.4 positive ratings from the audience on IMDb and 76% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Taboo Season 2: When Would Filming Start?

The series debuted on BBC One on January 7, 2017, in the United Kingdom, whereas it aired on January 10, 2017, in the United States on FX. Earlier, it was expected to start filming soon in 2018. However, Knight announced in mid-2017 that he hoped to begin filming next year as he’s trying to complete scripting as quickly as possible. He said: “I’m trying to write it as quickly as I can. I would say we would hope to be shooting it early next year.”

But later, due to his busy schedule, the filming again postponed. And when Knight confirmed the scripting is almost complete, Tom’s tight schedule made them hold on to Taboo’s filming schedule. In 2019, Knight said that filming would start early in 2020, which was now at hold for some apparent reasons. So, we could expect filming would begin somewhere in 2021.

Currently, the BBC is working on to restart production by considering England government’s health protocols. The Demon Headmaster Season 2 is amongst the other series to start their filming this autumn. The scriptwriter Reeves teased that the upcoming series would be an adaptation from Gillian Cross’s 2017 book title ‘Total Control.’ However, it was quite different from what his 80s books and 90s series portrayed. But, she was excited to connect the previous season with the new adaptation by bringing more characters to entertain their audience.

The Demon Headmaster, created by Gillian Cross, is a science fiction drama on CBBC. The series is based on Gillian Cross children’s book of the same name. It’s the sequel of the series aired in 1996 on CBBC of the same name. The series follows siblings Tyler Warren and Lizzie and their team’s journey to unmask their Hazelbrook School’s Headmaster’s true identity. It begins when both the siblings joining the school and found everyone has some special abilities. However, Lizzie suspects that something is wrong, but Headmaster enchant her with his spell, and later she became an expert in martial arts. Soon her spell breakthrough and she continues her quest. Lizzie, with her fellow team members, follow Headmaster to a spooky place where they found a picture of him with a note written by Dinah Hunter. Now, the team is trying to search the missing piece to expose their school’s Headmaster.

The Demon Headmaster Season 2: When To Expect?

Recently, The Demon Headmaster’s production team confirmed that filming would begin this autumn. Lately, it was pushed back due to the ongoing pandemic. But, now it’s on the horizon. Since the scriptwriters almost completed their script, so the only thing left is filming the upcoming season. The BBC also announced to restart the productions by considering all the health protocols suggested by the WHO and Public Health England. Emma Reeves Teased Plot Details

Recently, Reeves teased that she’s hoping to bring new characters in The Demon Headmaster’s world from the Gillian Cross’s 2017 book title ‘Total Control.’ She said it is Gillian’s new book and never adapted for any series. So it would be fun to portray those characters in their upcoming chapter. Further, Reeves stated that they were trying to connect their series from its prequel without revising its original version.

Reeves stated: “This was a new book that hadn’t been adapted before. And apart from the Headmaster’s character having a similar style to the 80s and 90s books. There are no obvious connections. So I felt that it was an opportunity for us to work how the continuity does come together. I felt that we could sensibly bring what people loved about the 80s books and 90 series. But certainly, I wouldn’t say it’s not intimidating!”

Now, let’s see how the Headmaster would rise again after defeated by his student’s group lead by Lizzi. However, Reeves said, the Headmaster won’t lose any battle, and he would soon return to his place. So, let’s see what new chapter the Headmaster wanted to narrate.

Due to the current pandemic situation, many movies are pushed back to their release schedule. And especially, MCU’s lineup has been badly affected. However, Marvel announced that Black Panther 2 is set for MCU’s Phase Four launch in 2022. The Marvel Studios President announced this news at D23 Expo. However, from the past two years, the co-writer and director Ryan Coogler and his team has been delaying working on the script. According to him, there are more creative elements that he needs to explore for the Wakanda King, to distinguish between MCU and the comic book’s king character.

Black Panther, written by Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, is an American superhero film. It’s based on Stan Lee’s Marvel Comics character of the same name. Thousands of years ago, five African tribes battle for the metal vibranium. Out of them, one warrior consumed a heart-shaped herb that enhanced his superhuman abilities. And later, he becomes the first Black Panther. Then he united every tribe to form a nation called Wakanda, which uses vibranium to create advanced technology. However, the Jabri tribe refused to join them and battle for the throne, which they did from generation-to-generation. In the present time, T’Challa claims the throne after his father’s death. However, his cousin returned Wakanda and challenged T’Challa for the throne.

Black Panther 2: When To Expect?

Currently, the co-writer stated that he is not rushing to start working on Black Panther 2. Since he want to create something more appealing and worthy, and Marvel respects his decision. That’s why Marvel decided to give him ample time that he and his team needs. However, it’s been four years when Black Panther first premiered. So it’s quite clear that MCU doesn’t want to push it further. That’s why it set the Black Panther’s sequel as the first movie of MCU’s Phase Four. Recently at D23 Expo Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege confirmed that Black Panther 2 is all set to release on May 6, 2022.

Ryan Coogler Looking For More Creative Elements

In late 2018, Coogler signed with Marvel to direct and write Black Panther 2. However, he stated that he and his team intentionally not working on the script right now. Because they wanted to create more elements for their Wakanda King. In an interview, Coogler stated that currently, they are struggling to portray T’Challa’s character.

Since he was a teen when he claimed as King in the comic. While in the MCU, he’s a mature man. So, they are currently trying to figure out how to demonstrate his King persona, which would be quite different from what the audience had read.

He said: “What I struggled with first is the difference between T’Challa in the MCU vs. T’Challa in the comic books. And I always believe that the differences lie in how old T’Challa was when he lost his father.” Coogler added that in the comic book, he’s very young when T’Chaka (his father) is killed. However, in the MCU, he’s a man, so those are two different things. In the book, he was a child king who got his throne when he was very young.

He continued: “So when you meet him. You know you are dealing with a guy who’s thirty-four years old who’s been a king for a long time. So he has a different sort of poise and confidence in his position. Whereas, in our film, that character is just settling in. So, I’d be interested to see what kind of King he is with experience. And how that affects his performance in the stories.”

The premiere date of Animal Kingdom Season 5 has already been postponed. The fans have been expecting the series to premiere in May 2020. However, the coronavirus pandemic halted the production midway resulting in a delay in the release. The series follows a very invulnerable superhero who fights the crimes and wears a blue tick suit. He doesn’t have any memories of his life before he was a superhero and all the versions of characters he has. The original comic series tells that he is apparently legally insane and has run away from a mental institute. The show did not say anything about this. The Tick follows a parody of superheroes, which was appreciated widely by the fans. After two seasons, what is up with The Tick Season 3? Here are all the details- 

The Tick Season 3: What’s The Status? 

The first season of the series- The Tick was divided into three parts. The pilot released in August 2016, then the second part- ‘a half-season’ with five episodes released next year in August 2017. The final batch of episodes from the first season released in February 2018. After the first season concluded, Amazon gave a piece of good news to all The Tick fans by ordering the second season of the series. The second season then premiered on April 5, 2019. While fans were hoping for more, the hope died when six weeks later, Amazon canceled the show and did not order The Tick Season 3. 

Cancellation: Why Did It Happen?

While Amazon did not reveal the exact reason to cancel the show, but it most likely is related to viewership. Like most of the streaming services, Amazon doesn’t release their rating figures to the public, but keeping in mind the reception The Tick bagged, all fingers point towards the viewing figures. While the first season of the show bagged 90% Rotten Tomatoes, the second season bagged a whopping 100% Rotten Tomatoes. All reviews called the show, likable, realistic, humorous, and full of action. 

Although the series had successfully built a loyal fanbase, it was not as big as Amazon needed to commission another season. If ratings did not meet a specific number, a series would get the ax. The show was in all called a refreshing take on all the superheroes after productions Marvel and DC who take their superheroes very seriously. 

Is Renewal Possible In The Future?

After the cancellation news landed, everybody started hoping that the creators would be able to find a new home for the show. However, the creator- Ben Edlund, took on to his twitter to reveal that he tried his best to find a new home for the show, but he was unsuccessful. And then after that, all actors’ contracts expired soon after, officially putting an end on the show. Even after that, Edlund kept on giving all fans hope that he would be reviving the show. He kept on saying that they will be looking for other opportunities for the Tick and company. But then everyone knew that the show has come to an end. For now, the show isn’t coming back, but maybe sometime later, the creators would be able to find a new home and bring back the show.
