HQ Trivia Closes After A Failed Acquisition & A Decrease in Popularity

A piece of interesting news coming your way as HQ Trivia made a name for itself with live trivia games. This not only offers real cash prizes but over the past year, interest in the application has declined dramatically. Now, the company has announced that it will close and cease all operations.

First reported by TechCrunch and CNN Business, HQ Trivia had an agreement to be acquired, but the buyer withdrew at the last moment. Existing investors were no longer willing to finance the game, which forced the closure.

Furthermore, CEO and co-founder Rus Yusupov explained the situation in an email to all HQ Trivia employees. We received an offer from a business established to acquire HQ and continue to build our vision, we had final agreements and legal documents, and a planned closing date for tomorrow, and for reasons we are still investigating, they suddenly changed their position and, despite our best efforts, we could not reach an agreement. Unfortunately, our main investors are no longer willing to finance the company, and so effective today, HQ will stop operating and go into dissolution. All employees and contractors will be laid off as of today.

While the HQ Trivia had raised more than $ 15 million and reached its peak of popularity with more than 2.3 million concurrent players and more than 15 million installations. Within the company, however, there was resentment against Yusupov. More than half of the startup staff signed a petition to force Yusupov to leave the company in April last year.

With the decrease in downloads and the disappearance of brand associations, not to mention the expulsion of popular host Scott Rogowsky, HQ Trivia could not maintain the momentum it had accumulated in its launch. The live trivia games on your iPhone, combined with real cash prizes, are certainly a compelling premise, but the commercial aspect of things was apparently not there. Yusupov wrote the following on Twitter after news of the HQ closure was known:

“With HQ we show the world the future of television. We did not get where we expected, but we extended the imagination of the world to what is possible on our smartphones. Thanks to everyone who helped build this and thanks for playing.” We hope to see some updates from HQ Trivia for betterment.

Apple could use its own 5G antenna on its iPhones 2020

Apple is probably to release its first 5G iPhones this fall. It is powered by Qualcomm’s X55 modem, thanks to Apple and Qualcomm’s wonder contract. Last year that saw the two companies resume their businesses.

But a new Fast Company report indicates that Apple is seeking to limit its dependence on Qualcomm. It is said that the iPhone manufacturer is exploring the design of its own 5G antenna instead of relying on Qualcomm’s existing hardware.

Speciously, the problem is the size of Qualcomm’s QTM525 antenna. Specifically to access the faster 5W mmWave version, which according to a Fast Company source is too large for the thin profile of the next Apple iPhones. As such, it is said that Apple is developing its own internal antenna system that would be better suited to the iPhone’s intended design. Antennas for mmWave technology, in particular, are important, given the relatively poor range of ultrafast wireless technology. Since 5G phones generally require multiple mmWave antennas to ensure good connectivity.

It is not confirmed that Apple will really use its own 5G antenna for its 2020 iPhones. Apparently, the business is considering two designs: a thinner one with antennas manufactured by Apple and a thicker one that would include those of Qualcomm.

Apple’s development of its own 5G antenna system makes a lot of sense since the company’s dependence on Qualcomm is likely to be temporary. Apple had only resolved its ongoing lawsuit with Qualcomm in the first place because it’s then Intel partner was unable to provide 5G chips for Apple in the desired timeframe, according to the Fast Company source, Apple still feels it is “screwing on royalties.” In his dealings with Qualcomm.

Apple would buy the entire Intel 5G modem company. This allowed Apple to take the bases that Intel had already done and continued building them to obtain fully customized. Internal modems that could be designed from scratch specifically for future iPhones, iPods, and other devices. It may still be some time before that group of modems can produce a product on par with Qualcomm’s. But it is almost certain that it is on the prospect for Apple, and having its own custom 5G antennas to combine with those eventual chips has a lot of sense.

Review: Endless Legend, Hearthstone Battlegrounds, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Catastronauts

In each hassle of PC Gamer magazine, we dedicate a handful of pages to the video games which are occupying our time – from the brand-new flavor of the month to that outdated compulsion that we simply cannot shake.

This month we go long-winded within the wilderness, exert management of the worldwide financial system, and at last Break freed from Hearthstone.

Furthermore, the unusual and mesmerizing fantasy 4X sport from Amplitude Studios. In my marketing campaign, world energy dynamics have been solidified for hundreds of years. The Cultists – mannequin-like beings that assimilate and enslave lesser peoples – are spreading their mysterious teachings, whereas the regal Drakken could be seen because of the self-described ‘goodies’, gaining energy via science, information, and commerce agreements.

However, behind the scenes,  as head of the itinerant clans, then exerting comfortable energy through that barely seen economic power. They manage the world market, deciding who will be part of it and taking cuts from each market transaction.

When Countless Legend came out in 2014, it shook the style. He adopted the 4X cosmic area of the innumerable sport of 2012, persevering to build the “innumerable” mythology characterized by a strange mix of fantasy features with aggressively totally different game styles, role-playing game components and a form of wonder evoked through A wonderful writing.

In each game, you will come into contact with dozens of minor factions, each with its own stories and needs that you could help to accomplish through side missions, or by simply destroying them.

It is rare to see so much dedication to history in a style that is synonymous with the Civilization collection, the place where the centuries-long career in the direction of one of the 5 circumstances of victory has become a reasonable reason; The thriller and the wonder changed for a cold and optimized surge in the direction of a prescriptive conclusion.

Countless legends continue to be linked in part to this lineage, including a “history” victory for the same old science, finance, diplomacy, and elimination suspects. However, along with the best way, it takes you directly to a thousand stories that make each sport really feel much better than a race to the final line.

As Amplitude works at Humankind, its 4X sport that encompasses history and that will become the first direct rival of the study to the dominant civilization, I would like to see the sport retain some of that narrative magic.

That narrative aptitude could, for example, be used within the early sport to point out how historical individuals tried to make sense of the mysteries of the world. Storytelling, superstition, and illusion have been an integral part of early civilizations, and countless legends show how well these things can complement a 4X sport.

Humanity is not affected by expectations related to a long-term franchise such as Civilization, and should not be afraid to extract some concepts from countless legends. Such elevation of the previous staff of Amplitude could be an increasing addition to an inquisitive sport about exploring how obsolete cultures by no means disappear completely, however, they proceed to silently affect those who exchange them. There’s a lot more in the game which you can explore and enjoy. Let us know in the comment section about it.

YouTube TV to cancel all App Store subscriptions in March

YouTube TV will cancel subscriptions of customers using Apple’s in-app payments in March. Google’s YouTube unit this week informed YouTube TV customers of a change in policy that will see the discontinuation of subscriptions purchased through Apple’s in-app payments mechanism, forcing users to subscribe elsewhere or cancel the service.

YouTube began sending emails to customers who have subscribed to its YouTube TV service through the Apple App Store with a warning that their subscriptions will be suspended in March.

According to a letter sent to YouTube TV customers, the company will stop accepting payments for subscriptions through Apple’s in-app system on March 13.

As noted by MacRumors, current members of the service can continue to watch YouTube TV content on Apple devices, meaning the service itself is not being pulled from the App Store.

“You’ll be billed for one final month of service and then you’re in-app purchase subscription will be canceled automatically on your billing date after March 13, 2020,” the letter reads.

YouTube could not clarify the change in policy, but Apple’s traditional 30% cut in all payments integrated into the application probably played a role in the decision. In an attempt to encourage the adoption of subscription payment models, Apple reduces its App Store rate to 15% for users who have a monthly subscription for more than a year.

To compensate, YouTube TV customers who pay in the app on Apple devices are charged $ 54.99 per month, more than the typical $ 49.99 rate applied to all other customers. YouTube put an end to new subscriptions made through in-app purchases on iPhone and iPad months ago, but so far it has allowed existing users to continue using Apple’s mechanism to process monthly payments.

The change in YouTube TV terms occurs amid rumors that the company is considering an expansion of its service that allows users to register and subscribe to premium third-party streaming services. Apple currently offers a similar product on Apple TV channels.

‘Dreams’ on PS4: Release Date and a Wonderful New Promo

Another exciting news for PS4 lovers. The Dreams is officially releasing on PS4 on February 14, 2020. Sony has confirmed in its State of Play presentation. The Media Molecule game has been in an early access period for a while. It’s spawned a ton of great games made with its creation tools. They’ve been showcase in the above trailer, which includes an amazing array of player-created projects.

While, Sony doesn’t dabble with early access-style releases that much, but it’s allowed players to create marketing for the game, which is pretty clever. Firstly, this release date likely means a full retail version of the game – previously, you could only download it from the PlayStation Store.

Secondly, there doesn’t seem to be an official word on this, but from what we can gather. Because you won’t need a PS Plus subscription to go online in Dreams. You didn’t need to be a Plus member for the early access period. We imagine this philosophy will carry over to the full game too. With the community aspect being so key to the game, we have to assume the online features will be open to all players. We’ll update this FAQ if we learn more.

Will this game will be available on PC anytime soon? As there has been some talk about this, but the fact is that Media Molecule is a Sony-owned studio, which makes a port unlikely to other platforms. Of course, we’ve been listening to reports that Horizon Zero Dawn will arrive on the PC, so a Dream port is not out of the question. For now, Dreams is only scheduled for release on PS4. If Sony makes an exception for Dreams, we will have to wait and see.

Thirdly, you wouldn’t have to make things if you didn’t want to. You could just spend all your time playing other people’s games or looking at their other creations and having a great time with it. But the point of the game, or whatever it is you want to call it, is to tickle your creative impulses and get you to try your hand at things

MWC Organizers Cancel the Show While Big Companies Abandon Fears of Coronavirus

Mobile World Congress has been canceled. The current outbreak of coronavirus has forced the GSMA organizer to disconnect the technology program, which was scheduled to take place from February 24 to 27.

“The GSMA has canceled the MWC Barcelona 2020 because global concern regarding the outbreak of coronavirus, travel concerns and other circumstances make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event,” the association said Wednesday.

Mobile World Congress was expected to attract more than 100,000 attendees from around the world. However, the outbreak of coronavirus and the fear that the disease would spread through the venue of the show led many of the leading providers of electronic products, including LG, Amazon, Intel, and Nvidia, to cancel their assistance.

Initially, the GSMA remained committed to organizing the annual technology show, despite cancellations. But by Wednesday, up to 16 major technology companies and mobile phone operators had declared that they would withdraw from the program, citing the coronavirus and travel restrictions to contain the outbreak.

In today’s announcement, the GSMA also said it wanted to keep Barcelona, the host city of the CMM, safe from the disease. So far, Spain has only reported two confirmed cases of coronavirus. However, the disease continues to spread, mainly in China, where it made more than 44,000 people sick and killed more than 1,000.

Furthermore, GSMA the commercial group that organizes the Mobile World Congress, said last week, before the big names began to leave the program, that there was “a minimal impact on the event so far” and that the event was developing as planned. “Spain, the city of Barcelona and the GSMA hope to welcome attendees to the MWC Barcelona 2020,” the group said.

On Sunday, GSMA reiterated that it was moving forward with the CMM, but that it was implementing additional and strict health measures to reassure attendees and exhibitors that their health and safety were “of paramount importance.”

These measures included the banning of any traveler from the Chinese province of Hubei, where the outbreak of the coronavirus began and requiring attendees who had passed through China to show evidence that they had been out of the country for 14 days.
