The series showrunner Eliza Clark had recently shared about the potential second season on Twitter. Keep reading to know more.
Based on the comic book, the show focuses on the world where a cataclysmic event killed the mammal. It happened due to Y-chromosomes on the planet. Y: The Last Man Season 2: Renewal Status!
After dealing with the pandemic-related halt, the show lasted only one season. The network canceled the show while the first season was still airing. As per FX Chairman John Landgraf, the show failed to gain viewers’ attention. He said he admired the showrunner Eliza Clark’s work. But the audience decline was steep, which made them cancel the show.
John further explained that they focused on the retention of the audience. The show they had renewed had the highest retention level than the show they had canceled. Thus based on the viewership, the network canceled the show.
Boss Talks About Series Cancelation
Shortly after the network canceled the show, the series showrunner Eliza Clark confirmed this news on Twitter. She also revealed that their attempt to move the show to another network has failed. Clark addressed that they needed money to keep the show afloat. And due to their budget problem, it became quite difficult for them to return with the second run. She also thanked the cast and crew for putting their efforts into making the show amazing.
Clark also concluded that it was time for her to work on her next project. Well, the show gained a positive response from critics. But the troubled production history was the reason behind the show’s cancelation.
Star Opens Up About Potential Y: The Last Man Season 2
Ashley Romans, who played Yorick’s bodyguard agent 355, discusses the second season’s potential plot. She said the second season would focus on post-apocalyptic Paris, where the cast will revolve around and what the entire world will look like after the cataclysm. She also talked about the show will focus on a comic storyline where two astronauts will return to earth with Y chromosomes. Now it remains unclear whether the show could return for a second season.
Y: The Last Man Season 2: Release Date
As of now, it doesn’t seem like the show could return with the second season. However, if Clark succeeds in bringing the show to the new platform, we expect it will take a year to return to our screen. The show will take almost six to seven months to wrap up production, but post-production will take a longer time to wrap up. So we can expect Y: The Last Man Season 2 will air in the fall of 2023.
