Joe Berlinger’s true crime docu-series is returning for the second installment of Crime Scene. And this time, the anthology series will be focusing on the mysterious killings around the Time Square region in the late 1970s in Crime Scene Season 2.

The first series of the documentary “Crime Scene: The vanishing Cecil Hotel” premiered in February 2021. The streaming network is ready to release the second installment before 2021 ends. Who Is Richard Cottingham?

Richard is an American serial killer who haunted and hunted the women of New Jersey and New York between 1967 and 1980. He began working for his father as a computer operator from 1964-1966. After that, he moved to New York, resulting in years of murder and fear among the people of the city. He dismembered and decapitated two victims on December 2, 1979, at the Hell’s kitchen Hotel on West 42nd Street and Tenth Avenue around Time Square.

The brutal killings earned him a nickname as The Torso Killer and Times Square Torso Ripper. He murdered a sex worker and an unidentified teenage girl. Finally, he was apprehended in 1980 at a motel in New Jersey. Since then, he has officially been convicted for 11 murders. Moreover, he claims to take credit for at least 80 perfect murders over 13 years. Thus, Crime Scene Season 2 will provide a detailed account of the brutal killings, pain, and suffering that Richard Cottingham caused.

Where Is Richard Cottingham Currently?

Richard is alive and incarcerated in New Jersey state prison in Trenton. Over the years, he has confessed to several more murders dating back to the 1960s in 2020. Moreover, he takes credit for more than 100 murders, and no one actually knows the brutality and the sickness of The Torso Killer.

And fortunately, they will discover a mysterious artifact deep in the swamp. The discovery and evidence suggest the presence of ancient Portuguese on the island. Thus, the intriguing find could help the team prove a half-century-old theory proposed by Fred Nolan. Moreover, the crew will keep a close eye during the digging around Shaft 6.

A Quick Recap!

The previous episode was focused on the discovery of a buried ship at the edge of the swamp area. The crew began digging around borehole DE 1.5. However, the efforts did not bear promising results. So, they moved on to borehole G2. The borehole was in the surroundings of Shaft 6, around 18 feet from the Money Pit. And the digging resulted in finding a nail with traces of manganese in it. After that, the team moved onto the Swamp Area, as suggested by Zena’s map. They also extended their search outside the limits indicated by the map. 

Meanwhile, the digging resulted in the discovery of lead and a metal strap. But, there were no traces of a buried ship yet. As per Carmen Ledge’s expertise, the strap belonged to a chest dating back to the 1600s. While digging inside the swamp with a 35-ton long-reach excavator, the crew found a wooden plank and some cut timber. However, the digging did not bear any fruitful discoveries. But the proximity of Shaft 6 around the Money Pit has shown some hopeful signs of the treasure in Episode 8.

The Bachelorette Season 18 Contestant Clayton Echard Will Be The Bachelor

The search for the next bachelor began in August 2021. Tyler Cameron was considered the perfect choice for Season 26. However, his contracts with Fox’s The real Dirty Dancing came in the way. Thus, the casting director looked for potential candidates from Michelle Young’s The Bachelorette Season 18. And on September 15, Clayton Echard was announced as the new bachelor for the next installment. 

The 28-year-old is a medical sales representative in Eureka, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia. Also, Clayton represented Mizzou as a professional American Footballer. Clayton began his journey by appearing in Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette. Initially, he did not attract much attention but still made it to the top 8 of the season.
