Developed by Derek Simonds, The Sinner follows a police detective Harry who inspects the crime executed by the unlikely convict who tries to cover their heinous motives. The first season explored a troubled woman who stabbed a man to death. While the second season revolved around the vicious action attempted by a young boy of Harry’s hometown. But the third season’s fatal car accident left Harry dismayed with its connection with some complex cases.

The Sinner Season 4: New Trailer Hints At What Could Happen Next

Recently, the show released another trailer delving closer to the new mystery Harry would deal with now. As the trailer opened up, it focuses on the mysterious disappearance of the daughter of a prominent island family, Percy Muldoon. While the cops, including her family, believe that her death is a tragedy, Harry smells something suspicious. When the cops said her death is due to excessive medication and drugs, Harry firmly upholds his point that he saw her at the edge of the cliff.

Well, it doesn’t seem like an open and shut case. As deeper Harry explores this case, the deeper the mystery gets tangle. Further, Frances Fisher’s character seems to know something crucial which she’s hiding from everyone. Even the Lam family also comes under suspicion as their son was with Percy before she attempted suicide. Above all, the trailer hints at a mysterious stalker who knows a lot about Percy and her sins which might turn the island and Harry’s life upside down.

The Sinner Season 4: New Faces Join The Cast

Well, it won’t be The Sinner without Bill Pullman. So, of course, he will return as Harry Ambrose. Season 4 will explore new characters’ story including Alice Kremelberg as Percy Muldoon and Michael Mosley as Colin Muldoon. In addition, Cindy Cheung as Stephanie Lam, Ronin Wong as Mike Lam, and Neal Huff as Sean Muldoon will also join. David Huynh will join in a recurring role as C.J. Lam. Besides them, season 3’s character Sonya Barzel (played by Jessica Hecht) will also join. Even Frances Fisher joins the team, but her role has yet to reveal.

USA Network’s hit series The Sinner will return next month with a brand new challenge aligned ahead in Bill Pullman’s Harry way. Mindhunter is an American psychological thriller crime drama TV series. Joe Penhall created this show for Netflix. It is an adaptation of the 1995 true crime book of the same name. The first season came out on October 13, 2017, on the streaming giant. Its second season came after a gap of two years. And in January 2020, the streaming platform put the third season of this show on hold. 

Mindhunter Season 3: Renewal Status!

On January 15, 2020, Netflix officially put the third season of this crime drama on hold. They didn’t cancel it. They just released the cast and crew from their contracts. Netflix made this decision because at that time, one of the show’s executive producers, David Fincher, was focused on directing his first film, Mank. He was also serving as the producer of Love, Deaths, and Robots Season 2.

The streaming giant also stated that David Fincher might revisit the series in the future for Mindhunter Season 3. However, in the meantime, it wasn’t fair for them to hold the actors while the makers were exploring new projects. As a result, the series is facing a hiatus for the past five years. Although there is a possibility that its renewal status might change in the near future. But at present, the show is still “on hold.” 

Will It Ever Return? 

Back then, David Fincher and Netflix only made contact regarding Mindhunter Season 3, and the show already began to make headlines. The fans are still as excited for the third season as they were two years ago. Small Screen reported that David Fincher and Netflix are discussing the return of the series. It is still in the early days David Fincher sounds more enthusiastic about this project than ever. Fincher always said in his interviews that he isn’t finished with the Mindhunter.

Not only him, but almost all the cast members are hopeful about the return of this show and are excited to work in it again. Holt McCallany, who plays the character of Special Agent Bill Tench, stated that he is hopeful that the psychological drama will not only return for the third season but for two more seasons after it as well. Also, the critical acclaim and reviews of the series were pretty good. So, there is a great possibility that sooner or later, Mindhunter Season 3 will arrive on Netflix.

Mindhunter Season 3: Cast Details

As we mentioned above, Netflix released all the main cast members of the series due to the indefinite hiatus. They didn’t want to hold the stars from taking the new projects while they are materializing the third season. Since all the cast members took on new projects and are really busy with their schedules, it will be very difficult to reassemble them and that too at the same time.

However, most of them already showed their interest in working in Mindhunter Season 3, as it was one of the best shows of their careers. One of the show’s leading actresses, McCallany, admitted that the actors prepared themselves for five seasons. She stated, “We did have a bible, a five-season bible, that existed when we started rehearsals for the first season.”

So, if now David Fincher and Netflix manage to pull off this cast heist, then all the prominent cast members will likely reprise their roles in the new season. The returning cast members will include Jonathan Groff as FBI agent Holden Ford, Holt McCallany as FBI agent Bill Tench, Stacey Roca as Nancy Tench, Anna Torv as Wendy Carr, Joe Tuttle as Gregg Smith, Michael Cerveris as Ted Gunn, and Lauren Glazier as Kay Manz. In the second season of Mindhunter, the viewers saw Holden and Bill hitting a dead end with their investigation. They were trying to catch the Atlanta killer, but nothing is working out for them. Holden came up with a new plan to lure him out. There was also a moment when Hunn disappointed Wendy by telling her not to interview more criminals. Holden recommended watching the bridges, whereas an upset Bill tried to reconnect with Brian. Also, Wendy heard a conversation of her husband with his ex and decided to end their relationship.

The final episode of the second season featured the FBI and police focusing on their investigation, having Wayne Williams as their primary suspect. Later, they charged Williams for two of the murders, but Holden still had some doubt. Upon returning home, he learned that Nancy and Brian moved out of the house without him. As previously mentioned, the show is still on hold, and hence it is quite difficult to predict its release date. Speaking with Deadline, Rake thanked fans for their incredible support. He said that they wanted to reward the fans with a proper closure which they deserve the most. Rake further thanked Netflix and WarnerBros. on behalf of the entire cast, writers, producers, directors, and crew. Even Bela Bajaria, Netflix Head of Global TV looking forward to giving some closure with this extended last season. Bela said that Rake and his team deserve this as they created a beguiling mystery that deserves a second chance.

Season 4 Will Be The Longest Season

Not only Netflix renewed the show for the final run, but it also ensured to return with a full two-hour finale. Season 4 will consist of a total number of 20 episodes, while the prior season only had 13 episodes on average. So this change will hopefully give ample time to the creator to craft the entire three-season in this final run. Further, the two-hour finale also teased that things will be bigger and better in the end.

But after the renewal news, the series regulars shared their excitement on Instagram, including Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh, who play siblings Ben and Michaela Stone. Further, Deadline reports that both have signed a deal to return for the fourth run with a significant pay increase. In addition, J.R. Ramirez will also return as Jared Vasquez.

However, Praveen Kaur remains in negotiations, so her character Saanvi Bah’s fate remains in limbo. Jack Messina and Luna Blaise, who play twins Cal and Olive, also celebrated the renewal news. So indeed, the sibling will return. The third season newcomer Holly Taylor as Angelina Meyer could return. However, based on the finale, it’s unlikely Athena Karkanis could return as Grace.
