Astra Lost in Space, also known as Kanata no Astra in Japanese, is a sci-fi space anime series. It is an adaptation of Kenta Shinohara’s manga series of the same name. Lerche animation studio took command of animating its inaugural installment. The viewers saw the premiere episode on July 3, 2019. It had a great run of twelve episodes before ending on September 18, 2019. 

Astra Lost In Space Season 2: Renewed Or Canceled? 

The inaugural installment of this anime series received a massive response from the fans as well as the critics. It got a lot of compliments from viewers all around the globe. The outer space visuals this show featured were just magical, and the character has depth as well. It didn’t provide a chance for the viewers to complain about anything. At the time of writing, the anime has a brilliant score of 8.13 on MyAnimeList, and its overall rank is #388 on the same platform. Not only that, the series has a huge fandom as well, and it has more than 226K members in its group on MAL.

If we look at its ratings, reviews, and popularity, the renewal should’ve come by now. However, the only problem is that Lerche studio has already exhausted all the source material in the debut season. Therefore, the makers won’t renew Astra Lost in Space Season 2 until the mangaka decides to make a sequel to the manga series. 

Kanato no Astra: Plot Details!

The story of the anime is set in the year 2063 when space travel is commercially available. The protagonist, Aries Spring in the hope of getting some adventure, decided to attend a camp on another planet named McPa. However, a thief snatched her purse at the spaceport. But a guy named Kanata Hoshijima retrieved it.

Meanwhile, the group of Kanata and Aries took a worse turn after reaching the campsite. A strange black light sucked them into outer space. All of this led them to lose hope but then they found a ship that can be used to return home. When they realized they are really far from home, they all worked together sensibly to conquer the darkness of the space.

Astra Lost In Space Season 2: Release Date

It looks like fans might have to wait for a very long time to see the second season of this anime series. If the mangaka agrees to provide enough source material for the sequel, then Astra Lost In Space Season 2 might premiere sometime in 2023.

It seems the history will repeat itself. NBC once canceled Timeless just after one season but renewed it soon after receiving colossal reception. The same might follow with Manifest Season 4, as NBC dropped the show just a few days after the third season wrapped up airing.

However, there’s a compelling twist. Soon after NBC axed Manifest Season 4, Netflix also decided not to pick it up. But recently, Netflix has also reached Warner Bros TV for Manifest Season 4. It seems the giant streamer has picked up the momentum to get the series.

Well, Netflix’s sudden shift in the plan is related to the reception of Manifest Season 1 and 2 which might grow on Netflix in the US, including the strong impact of the #SaveManifest fan campaign. But unfortunately, reps for NBC, Netflix, and Warner Bros TV have decided to stay mum. NBC canceled Manifest on June 14, but it remains as one of the highly-watched shows on the Monday lineup. Including being the No. 1 show on both Netflix and NBC, and topping the Nielsen streaming ratings.

Netflix Looking For Global Rights

The streamer has regained its interest in Manifest after scrapping the show in June. Well, it came out as no surprise as Manifest has been remaining in the daily Top 10. However, the complicated factor here involves the series’ international distribution rights. Netflix generally wants global rights. But Warner Bros TV has already sold Manifest on the international market, as Manifest Season 3 aired on Sky in the UK.

Moreover, we had seen a few obstacles in the potential NBC-Netflix agreement on Good Girls. There, Netflix not only controlled the international rights but was also involved in the domestic full-season broadcast. But deeming Manifest popularity in the US, it could become hard for Netflix not to pursue it. So if both sides NBC-Netflix could come up with an agreement, then possibilities are high for Manifest Season 4, just like Lucifer.

Creator Hoping To Return

The series creator Jeff Rake has been hinting at a possible new season through his trivia contests and live-tweeting sessions. On July 12, he began retweeting about Manifest’s strong viewership on Netflix. However, he also asked fans to keep their faith in the show, as soon they would hear pleasant news about the renewal of Manifest Season 4. Furthermore, yesterday, following Showbiz 411 renewal news, Rake tweeted, “Lots of speculation out there. If the impossible happens and the dead rise again, it’s because of you (fans).”

Initially, Rake stated in an interview that he’s hoping for a six-season run, as they had mapped the entire story and how things would conclude. But the cancelation resulted in the premature ending, leaving many unresolved questions with the third season finale cliffhangers. So, the renewal could help them clear the air and even explain the fate of the characters.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 7: Ian Goldberg Revealed Who Will Return

The explosive finale of the sixth season left many of the survivors’ fate up in the air. However, Ian Goldberg has recently revealed that the fan-favorite characters would return to navigate their life in this new world. Morgan Jones (Lennie James), Grace Mukherjee (Karen David), and Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) have survived the missile. Along with them, Daniel Salazar’s (Rubén Blades) cat Skidmark and Emily LaRoux’s (Demetrius Groose) dog Rufus survived somehow.

Although he didn’t reveal the other cast’s fate, yet we can expect Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey) to return as she was in the bunker when the explosion occurred. The season finale ended up with underground cult leader Teddy firing dozens of nuclear warheads over the Lone Star State, Texas. Initially, Archer Season 12 was set to air in May 2020. But FXX shifted the premiere plans due to the global health crisis. FXX recently disclosed that the first two episodes would drop on August 25 at 10 pm ET/PT only on FXX. As he wished to grow and protect his community and his godfather. But he can’t deny the orders he received from Governor Tryon. So it could create a big mess in Jamie’s life.

While trying to unravel what he’s willing to do at this particular time, Jamie will find himself entangled in the looming war. Jamie and Claire built their place in Fraser’s Ridge, which the British crown provided them to work as per the monarchy. However, they can’t avoid the war as American Revolution seems to impend over Fraser’s Ridge. It would inevitably catch Jamie in between, and this threat could destroy the Ridge and their community in the process.

Fortunately, this isn’t the case, as the network has recently renewed Outlander Season 7. Well, the renewal announcement came as a bit of a surprise for fans. As of now, Starz hasn’t announced the official release date. But Outlander’s official Twitter handle lately teased that the following season will return early next year.
