Detective Pikachu 2: Renewal Status!

Legendary Pictures renewed the second run of Justice Smith and Ryan Reynolds’ starer mystery drama even before the release of the first movie. Along with this news, they also revealed that the production hired Oren Uziel (Mortal Kombat and 22 Jump Street) to write the sequel of this film. As a result, fans were pretty relaxed that they would eventually get to more adventures of Tim and Pikachu in Detective Pikachu 2. However, in the past two years, a lot of things have changed, including the renewal status of this Pokemon drama.

Justice Smith, who portrayed the role of Tim Goodman in the first film, revealed that the sequel of this movie is no more in development. According to him, all the initial plans for the second film have been scrapped, and the new plans are on hold for an indefinite period of time.

What Justice Smith Has to Say?

Justice Smith recently sat for an interview with Inverse to discuss his another series titled “Generation.” However, in this interview, he talked about one of his most popular films Detective Pikachu as well. On asking whether the second film will happen or not, he replied, “I would love to participate in Detective Pikachu 2. I don’t know if it’s going to happen.”

He was really excited to participate in the second film, but the plans have been put on hold. He made pretty clear when he said, “I believe we might have to bury our hopes. I do not think it is going to happen. I really hope so, though. Honestly, I’m such a huge fan, who knows, who knows? I hope so.” This interview of Justice Smith broke the hearts of many Pokemon fans who were waiting for him and Ryan Reynolds to see in the sequel along with Pikachu. 

Will Detective Pikachu 2 Ever Happen? 

Justice Smith isn’t the only one who is excited to be a part of the second film of the Detective Pikachu series. Newton, who portrayed the character of Lucy Stevens in the film, is also looking forward to more adventures with her Psyduck. But according to the reports, Lucifer’s co-showrunner, Joe Henderson, already began to assemble the writers to work on its script.

Unlike Detective Pikachu, this film will focus more on the original characters of the Pokemon anime series. So, there is a possibility that fans will get to see Ash along with his fans fighting with the Team Rocket in the live-action series. Netflix is already streaming several Pokemon series, and the addition of this live-action series will enhance its library even more. Now, it will be interesting to see whether this series will become as successful as Detective Pikachu or not.

She said that they had many discussions on the second run when they were working on the first season. Even in an interview with Korea JoongAng Daily, Yoon shared her plans for the second run.

She said that before she started working on the first season, she had already mapped the stories, and they currently have more stories to work on. Yoon further teased that the entire series is loosely inspired by Kim Sae-Byeol’s Things That Are Left Behind essays book. But most of the stories took inspiration from real events that happened in Japan. So there’s a huge chance that it would continue depicting those stories in the second run.

Move To Heaven Season 2: Who Could Be In The Cast?

As of now, it’s unclear whether the streamer would return with the second run of Move To Heaven. But, it’s safe to say that Lee Je-Hoon as Cho Sang-gu and Tang Joon-sang as Han Geu-Ru would return for the second run. Further, we can expect that Ji Jin-hee as Han Jeong-woo and Kim Ju-Yeon as Min Ji-won would return as Geu-Ru’s memories and in some flashbacks. Additionally, other partners in Jeong-woo’s workplace would also return. Sang-gu And Geu-Ru Will Develop A Strong Bond

Geu-Ru’s lawyer visited him in the first season finale and informed him that memorial park was asking for his father’s ashes. However, he didn’t want his father Jeong-woo to leave him. That later led him to escape from the place, which subsequently brought turmoil in his lawyer and uncle’s life. Meanwhile, Sang-gu failed to become the guardian of Geu-Ru, which later left Sang-gu in dismay.

But despite avoiding his concern for Geu-Ru, when the lawyer told Sang-gu that Geu-Ru wanted to stay with him, he wells up. However, it remains unclear whether Sang-gu could be Geu-Ru’s legal guardian. Further, if the series returns for the second run, then there’s a huge possibility that Sang-gu would try to build a healthy relationship with Geu-Ru.

A Love Triangle

Since the beginning of the first season, Na-Mu has had feelings for Gue-Ru, which was raised in the finale. However, Jun-Yeong sees Na-Mu as his potential love interest. But Na-Mu seems to have no clue regarding Jun-Yeong feelings, which might cause trouble in Gue-Ru’s life. Further, Na-Mu hasn’t yet confessed her true feelings for Gue-Ru. So, it could be possible that this vast love triangle could cause conflict, and perhaps Jun-Yeong might appear as the antagonist in the second run.

Gue-Ru Finds His First Crush

In the closing moment, a young woman, Eun-Byeol asked for Move To Heaven service to Gue-Ru when he reached his house. However, he appeared baffled as the deceased name was the same as the person who asked for the service. Later, he learned that Eun-Byeol was asking for her trauma cleaning as she will die soon. Meantime, he saw some butterflies flying over her head and realized that this butterfly girl is his first crush.

Gue-Ru had a hard time dealing with his father’s demise. And now, he found her first love, which will soon die. So it could be quite hard for him to deal with another loss. Meanwhile, when Jun-Yeong returns as the main antagonist, things will turn more upside-down in Gue-Ru’s life. Further, it could become difficult for Na-Mu too to deal with Gue-Ru when she feels the same for him.

It looks like Tom’s busy schedule is keeping him away from the production of Taboo Season 2. The filming was supposed to begin back in 2019, but it got postponed as Tom Hardy didn’t have any dates. The same happened when it was about to begin in 2020. After that, the coronavirus pandemic ruined the production schedule of the period drama. 

Taboo Season 2: What Will Happen?

Steven Knight already stated that Taboo Season 2 would cover all the stories that he wasn’t able to tell in the first season. However, his delusional obsession and toxicity increased, which led him to leave the place. Soon in the second run, he founds his next target, a local heiress. Because of the success of the first season, just after Lifetime renewed the series for the second run, Netflix swooped in to acquiring the show’s rights. And within a month after the second season dropped on Netflix, the streamer confirmed to return with the third run.

Like many other productions, You Season 3 has also suffered several setbacks and challenges due to the delays imposed by the health crisis. Fortunately, Sera took to Twitter to confirm that they have finally wrapped up their post-production VFX work. She even praised her crew’s tireless efforts and dedication in the progression of the third run. However, while honoring her team, she proposed that something like VFX reviews had to be reinvented.

She added she doesn’t mean that VFX work is easy, but it becomes a bit complicated to review how the VFX shot looked on your 13-inch laptop when everyone was working remotely. So the editors had to visit the office to view it on the proper equipment, including other works. Lately, Sera revealed that the show’s COVID-19 consent team issued over 32,000 tests during filming. However, no one contracted it despite the notable outbreak in Los Angeles.

You Season 3: Who Will Be In The Cast?

Of course, Penn Badgley will return as Joe Goldberg and Victoria Pedretti as Love. Now that the couple has relocated to Los Angeles, we can expect to see some new faces. Starting with The Vampire Diaries’ fame Michaela McManus as Natalie, who will be Joe’s next target. Besides, NCIS star Shalita Grant will appear as mom influencer Sherry and Scorpion’s Travis Van Winkle as wealthy Cary.

Apart from them, Shannon Chan-Kent will play Kiki, Sherry’s girl clique, and Christopher Sean will play Kiki’s husband, Brandon. Additionally, Chris O’Shea will play Andrew while Bryan Safi will join as his husband, Jackson. Tati Gabrielle will join as Marienne with Ben Mehl as her colleague Dante. Other members include Dylan Arnold as Theo, Mackenzie Astin as Gil, and Ayelet Zurer as Dr. Chandra. Meanwhile, Jack Fisher will play young Joe while Scott Michael tapped the role of Ryan.

After its first look, the sitcom official Twitter page shared a thrilling teaser of the final run. And it is spoofing MCU opening credits. It also announced that the final trailer will drop on Thursday, only two weeks before the release of the eighth run. The short clip gives a brief glimpse at what fans can expect with an epic fanfare soundtrack that will expand when the final trailer drops.

The iconic visuals and music hint that the sitcom intends to take advantage of this opportunity to wrap up with a glorifying ending. Further, the MCU tribute is a shrewd callback to season 7’s heist episode, “Valloweaster,” which featured Infinity Gauntlet. As of now, the details for the final chapter have been kept secretly under wrap.
