In February 2020, the Paramount Network renewed the ranch drama for Yellowstone Season 4, four months before the third season premiered. The early renewal of season 4 does not come as a surprise, as the show earned five million viewers per episode, as per Variety. Although, the filming was halted due to the ongoing pandemic for a few months. But the series co-creator Taylor Sheridan shared that the filming would begin in mid-August 2020.

He added that the show takes place on a ranch in Montana, where at that time, there were no active cases of COVID. However, soon when the series aired its season 3’s finale, Chief Joseph Ranch, where the show’s filmed, confirmed that filming for the fourth season had finished. Soon Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler, confirmed on April 7, 2021, that they wrapped filming on November 11.

After the third season’s cliffhanger ending, we wonder if the entire cast survived the bomb and gunfire. However, it’s unclear at this moment. But, deeming their recent post on social media, we can expect that the entire cast would return.
