After more than 50 years, Hyakkimaru and Dororo have finally returned to the screens again. MAPPA’s 2019 anime revisits the characters of 1960’s Dororo manga. Even after all these years, the story managed to impress millions of viewers, including millennials and boomers. As of now, we’re all expecting to watch more of the classic storyline. However, will MAPPA produce another season or not? What will be the plot of Dororo Season 2? Here’s everything to know.

Dororo’s History!

The Dororo franchise was originally conceived as a manga series back in the late 1960s. Writer and illustrator Osamu Tezuka gained much popularity for his creation. However, the manga series couldn’t run for long and was canceled within a year of its debut. In 1969, its anime adaptation became one of the earliest anime in history. Even after years of conclusion, the storyline still appealed to people and continued to be adapted in different forms.

More recently, the series returned as a 2004 video game called Blood Will Tell. This version didn’t do as much business as expected, yet its ending left an impression on all Dororo fans. After more than 50 years later, Studio MAPPA decided to give it another shot. The 2019 anime adaptation caught the eyes of many boomers while catering to the new generation. It began airing in January 2019 and continued for 24 episodes until June of the same year. Fans are now hopeful for Dororo Season 2 as well.

Dororo Season 2: Renewed Or Canceled?

Currently, MAPPA is yet to confirm whether Dororo Season 2 will make it to the screens or not. Well, honestly speaking, chances for its renewal are pretty grim. The new anime gave a satisfactory end to the main plot and also adapted its entire source material. Hence, in order to extend the story, the creators will have to write an original plotline for the sequel. None of the Dororo franchise adaptations have ever continued the plot after the end of the manga.

However, unlike all other adaptations of the series, the 2019 anime gave away a hint about Hyakkimaru’s future. In the finale episode, Biwamaru says that the lead character may have left on another journey. Hence, even though the main storyline of the anime has ended, Dororo Season 2 might focus on Hyakkimaru’s new journey after gaining all his body parts again. Thus, there’s still hope for the renewal of a new season.

What Will Happen In The New Season?

Well, considering that MAPPA has no source material left to create the sequel, it has to depend on a new story. The studio will have to continue Hyakkimaru’s journey after taking his revenge and regaining all his body parts. On this new journey, the character is likely to walk the path of humanity. At this point, the story can go any way and explore Hyakkimaru’s brand-new life.

However, some fans on the internet anticipate that Dororo Season 2 might not be around Hyakkimaru’s life anymore. Speculations say that the sequel might shift its focus to the titular character, Dororo. Now that we know that Dororo was actually a girl, it’ll be interesting to know her side of the story. But, this is just speculation now, and MAPPA is yet to confirm it. Although, like all other fans, we hope that we get to watch the series from this new perspective.

Manifest Season 3: Plot Details!

Show creator, Jeff Rake, also teased about the story of the third season. According to him, the meth-head trio will play a major role in Manifest Season 3. In an interview, he talked about some other characters as well. He said, “Michaela and others will have essential reasons to interact with a lot of them. Larry David’s cringe comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm is all set to return with another season. Recently, HBO greenlit the show for its eleventh season. HBO’s Executive Vice President, Amy Gravitt, is eagerly waiting for David’s next comedy chapter. Amy said: “Larry is already busy writing. And we can’t wait to see what he has in store”. However, the series is partial fiction, as it’s based on Norse oral tradition that was written down after 200 to 400 years later when these events happened.

Vikings Season 6: What Will Happen Now?

The finale for the first part of Viking Season 6 witnessed a lot of bloodshed and betrayal. Ivar and Igor (Oran Glynn O’Donovan) continue to plan their evil action against Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky), Kings Harald (Peter Franzen), and Bjorn. Also, Ivar made his way and stabbed Bjorn for thorn. And Harald also assumed as dead. Meanwhile, Torvi (Georgia Hirst) and Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) are in Ireland searching for what happened to Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard). It’s pretty clear that battle would be resumed in the second half as well. That would eventually explain what happens to Floki, and whether the two Harald and Bjorn are dead or not.

When To Expect?

In total, Vikings Season 6 consists of 20 episodes, which split into two parts. The sixth season’s first ten episodes already aired on History TV from December 4, 2019, to February 5, 2020. However, fans have to wait for more, since the streaming date for its second part is not disclosed yet. Further, the streaming network has yet to announce when they could begin filming. As we all know, the production is on hold due to obvious reasons. So, it’s better to wait for the official announcement. As of now, we can only assume that Viking Season 6 Part 2 would premiere later this year.

Will There Be Any Seventh Season?

Unfortunately, Vikings Season 6 is the final batch of the series. Although they didn’t reveal any reasons for that. We still could assume that it’s based on historical records. Since there are no further historical events found on other characters, and most of the tale was based on Roger and his battle. So, if they continue the series, it would turn into more fictional events. Another reason could be a drop in its ratings after Roger’s death.

Netflix has renewed Black Summer Season 2 quite some time ago. The series served as the prequel of the craziest zombie series Z-Nation. It sets years before the incident of Z-Nation occurs. Though it follows a separate story arc still both the series are spiritually connected. Earlier, its filming started in 2019 but then delayed for some apparent reasons. However, it’s not declared when the filming for Black Summer Season 2 would resume. Till then, let’s wait for further updates.

The series revolves around Rose (Jaime King) and her crew’s quest for survival and search for her daughter. However, she started a quest to search for her daughter during this deadliest time, where she met a small group of refugees. Rose made a brave move to unite the new hostile world. She also made many cruel decisions, including killing one of her crew members, to speed up their quest, during the fatal summer of the zombie devastation.

Black Summer Season 2: Renewed Last Year

Generally, Netflix takes one or two months to renew the show by considering its target viewership. However, in the case of Black Summer, Netflix didn’t reveal whether they were thinking of renewing it. Everything stayed silent until October 2019. In October, people noticed an auction on HollywoodCharityAuctions.com and eBay, that offering people to visit Black Summer’s set before they start their shooting for the next season.

Later in November 2019, Netflix confirmed that Black Summer Season 2 is on its horizon. And then, Netflix from its NX account posted a 20 seconds video confirming the second season is returning on Netflix. That reads: “Its official! Black Summer is returning for season 2”. Where Rose is looking at the screen with mixed (teary eyes and satisfied smile) expression. And Anna is running towards her mom.

Black Summer Season 2: Production Details

The filming for season 2 started early before the pandemic hit the world. In late November, Karl Schaefer announced that the second season is set to film in Calgary, Canada. Karl tweeted: “We’ll be shooting in Calgary again”. But, due to the ongoing pandemic, the production is on hold now. And when it will resume is still not clear. The spin-off show explores the golden age of Hollywood. The story takes place in 1983 in LA when the city was in the middle of racial strains, particularly between the Los Angeles Police Department and Latino communities. The plot of the debut season includes a period as well as supernatural elements. The finale episode, “Day of the Dead,” left a lot of lingering threads to pull in the second season. Alex, Rio, and Elsa are becoming more and more essential in their various promenades. Elsa has moved in with Dr. Craft and has made him consider a more hardline stand to support the Nazi Party members within the LA city. After murdering Fly Rico, Rio has served Mateo to become the pachuco’s leader and seems engaged in preserving a race war and other violent revolutions.

The first season of the spin-off was ordered way back in 2018. It took two years to present the show on the screen. Since the current situation is too risky to start any production. Therefore it will again take two or three years to return. The fans can expect Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels Season 2 to premiere sometime in 2022.
